Since we visited my husband's home city in Dipolog and stayed in Las Pinas for most of the Christmas holidays, these were the primary places that we pointed out to them. My kids also see me wearing a Bohol shirt so they took note of its location too.
We're also homeschoolers so we're the type who like hitting two birds (well, in this case many birds) in one stone when it comes to educating our kids. A few days after, my daughter was fiddling with a globe and she suddenly had the urge to 'know' where Dipolog was in the small Philippine archipelago in the globe. She said she wanted to know how far Dipolog was from the USA. I asked her to check the Philippine map first so she can estimate where in the small Philippine map on the globe it is. I would like to believe that in that short experience, my kids were able to understand estimation and scale -- even if they do not quite understand those words yet.
